VIN CHAUD RECIPE

What is vin chaud? Vin chaud is an alcoholic drink made with mulling spices and is similar to German glühwein or gluhwein. It is an alcoholic beverage usually served at Christmas markets in Europe.

RESPLENDENT KITCHEN

For the vin chaud: –apple cider –orange juice –sugar  –green cardamom pods –whole cloves –star anise –cinnamon sticks –fruity red wine –orange slices 

Ingredients

– large pot or Dutch oven –spatula – strainer – cutting board – chef's knife – citrus juicer – mugs with handles

Equipment

- Heat a large pot on medium heat. Add  apple cider, orange juice, sugar, and spices. Occasionally stir to dissolve the  sugar.

-Once the sugar has dissolved, add the red  wine and reduce the heat to low or low-medium heat. Simmer for 20  minutes.

You should see steam rising and occasional gentle bubbling. It  should not boil.

Strain the vin chaud in a fine-meshed  strainer. Serve warm in mugs or glasses with handles, garnished with orange slices, star anise, or cinnamon sticks.  Cheers!
